Mumbai: COVID-19 cases in Dahisar increasing at an alarming rate

Nearly 500 to 800 fresh COVID-19 cases have been reported from Dahisar in a week.

Although the number of coronavirus patients has been decreasing in Mumbai, the COVID-19 cases in Dahisar area have been increasing at an alarming rate. The doubling rate of COVID-19 cases in Dahisar stands at 72 days while the same in 81 days in Kandivali. 

Nearly 500 to 800 fresh COVID-19 cases have been reported from Dahisar in a week. In Mumbai, 1,200 to 1,500 cases are being reported on a daily basis. 25 COVID-19 cases are being reported every day from Parel followed by 17 from Worli and 34 from Prabhadevi. 

However, the cases have also been decreasing in areas including Worli, Parel, Lalbaug, Sewri, Prabhadevi and Naigaon. The doubling rate in Parel and Worli stands at 198 and 180 days, respectively.

Currently, the doubling rate in all areas of Mumbai is more than 100 days except R North (Dahisar), R Middle (Borivali), R South (Kandivali) and P South (Goregaon).

On Sunday, Maharashtra reported a total of 5,648 patients who had recovered from the COVID-19 infection taking the tally to 14,60,755 patients, with the recovery rate currently at 88.08 per cent. 

Moreover, the state recorded a total of 6,059 new patients in a single day. With 112 deaths reported, the COVID19 fatality rate in Maharashtra stands at 2.63 per cent. Officials have tested a  total 86,08,928 samples so far, out of which 16,45,020 tested positive.
