Amid the coronavirus crisis, the one-rupee clinic is helping people get tested for the coronavirus infections at suburban stations of Mumbai. Currently, the facility will be available at 19 railway stations in the city.

The total number of coronavirus or COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra has increased to 89 with 15 more people who have been tested positive. Of the 15 new cases, 14 are from Mumbai while one is from Pune. 

Amid the coronavirus crisis, the one-rupee clinic is helping people get tested for the coronavirus infections at suburban stations of Mumbai. Currently, the facility will be available at 19 railway stations in the city. 

The One-Rupee Clinic was set up at railway stations in Mumbai to provide almost free treatment to the passengers travelling in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). As per Bombay HC’s orders, the one-rupee clinic was launched a couple of years ago. 

The CEO of One-rupee clinic, Dr Rahul Ghule informed that they are currently screening COVID-19 patients in 19 stations and they have examined several commuters. 

“We are testing several patients for the coronavirus infection. People can come to the one-rupee clinic and get screened for COVID-19,” said Dr Rahul Ghule while adding that patients who have fever other symptoms of COVID-19 are being referred to Kasturba Hospital. 

RTI Activist Anil Galgali welcomed the move saying that it’s a great service as the one-rupee clinic is also guiding people asking them to take precautions amid the coronavirus outbreak. 

The screening facility is available at stations including Kurla, Palghar, Mankhurd, Panvel, Chembur, Dombivli, Titwala, Ambernath, Mumbai Central, Naigaon, Nalasoapara, Grant Road, Thane, Bhandup, Kalva and Mumbra.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday imposed section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrCP) in all urban parts of the state. 

Section 144 in Maharashtra will be implemented from March 23. This is being done to stop the spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19 in the state. CM Uddhav Thackeray informed about the decision taken by his government via live stream.
