With a nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive getting launched across the country, in recent developments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is touted to get vaccinated in the second phase of the inoculation drive for the coronavirus.

Moreover, all Chief Ministers, MPs and MLAs above 50 are also to receive the vaccines. The vaccination drive for the coronavirus was earlier launched on January 16 where healthcare workers and the frontline warriors were the first ones on which the dose was administered.

Meanwhile, PM Modi, in his meeting with Chief Ministers before the drive stated that they did not need to panic or rush to get vaccinated as they would get their turn in the second round. According to reports, Chief Ministers of states like Haryana, Bihar and Telangana had reportedly suggested that MLAs, MPs and other public representatives should be considered frontline workers and be vaccinated in the first phase.

On the other hand, on Wednesday, January 20, Maharashtra recorded 3,015 fresh cases of the coronavirus, taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 19,97,992. As of now, there are 46,769 active cases in the state. With 4,589 COVID-19 patients getting discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 18,99,428.

Moreover, India reported 15,223 new cases, 19,965 recoveries and 151 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,06,10,880. According to the data shared by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 1,02,65,706 people have completely recovered from COVID-19.

According to the ICMR, 18,93,47,782 samples have been tested up to January 20. Meanwhile, 8,06,484 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the country so far.
