Pune reported 743 new COVID-19 cases, 382 recoveries and three deaths on Wednesday, February 24, taking the total number of cases up to 1,99,696. According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), there are 3,559 active cases while 1,91,300 patients have recovered so far. The death toll in Pune is 4,837.

As many as 6,514 tests were conducted taking the total count to 11,14,668.

On Wednesday, February 24, Maharashtra recorded 8,807 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 21,21,119. Currently, there are 59,358 active cases in the state. With 2,772 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 20,08,623.

More than 80 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 51,937. While 2,95,578 persons are under home quarantine, 2,446 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 94.70 per cent, and 2.45 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 16,738 new cases, 11,799 recoveries and 138 deaths taking the tally up to 1,10,46,914 on Wednesday, February 24. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,07,38,501 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,56,705 in the country. At present, there are 1,51,708 active cases. So far, 1,26,71,163 healthcare and frontline workers have been vaccinated in the country.
