Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief (RSS) Mohan Bhagwat will lay the foundation stone of Dharmveer Anand Dighe Cancer Hospital and Trimandir complex in the premises of the municipality's Global Building in Balkum area of Thane on Sunday. Due to this, the hospital of more than five hundred beds, which has been on paper for the past few years, will become a reality. This hospital will benefit the patients not only in Thane city but also in the district.
The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) acquired the plot in Rustamji Housing Complex in Balkum through the development of 'Town Center' reservation. The decision to lease this space to private enterprises was taken during the tenure of then Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal. But after the number of patients started increasing during the Corona period, a well-equipped hospital with 1000 beds was built in this place and after that the proposal to lease this place to private enterprises was dropped.
