Senior resident doctors will now get a stipend of INR 85 thousand per month

The medical education department has finally approved the demand of the resident doctors to increase the stipend in the medical colleges of the state by about INR 10 thousand. Their stipend will now be INR 85 thousand rupees. Nearly 3,000 senior resident doctors are working in the state government medical colleges. The resident doctors' association, MARD, had been demanding to increase the stipend of these doctors for the past two years.

This demand of resident doctors has finally been approved by the medical education department. The stipend paid to senior resident doctors in medical colleges in the state was very less compared to resident doctors in other states. Therefore, there was a demand to increase the stipend. Resident doctors in the state were getting INR 76 thousand as stipend. 


Demand will be made for junior doctors

After senior resident doctors, efforts will now be made to increase the stipend of junior resident doctors. Around 10 thousand junior resident doctors are working in municipal and state government medical colleges, hence, there will be a demand to increase the tuition fee of these doctors, said Abhijit Helge, President of MARD (Central).

  • Central Government Hospitals: About INR 1.20 lakh
  • Madhya Pradesh: 80,000
  • Gujarat: 90,000
  • Bihar: 86,000
