Another Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS) patient has died in the state. The death of a patient has been reported in a private hospital in Pune. Due to this, the number of patients who have died in the state has increased to eight. Meanwhile, the number of GBS patients in the state has reached 203.
A 59-year-old man died of GBS in a private hospital in Pune on Tuesday (11) night. He was a resident of Sant Rohidas Nagar in Khadakwasla. The patient was admitted to the hospital on February 10. He felt weak and could not move. His nerve conduction velocity test was done. It was diagnosed with GBS. He died on Tuesday during treatment. Eight people have died of GBS so far. The first GBS patient died in Solapur. This patient had gone to Solapur from Pune. After that, 6 patients have died in Pune and one patient has died in Pimpri-Chinchwad, the health department informed.
So far 203 GBS patients have been detected in the state, out of which 176 patients have been diagnosed with GBS. The increase in the number of GBS patients in Pune continues, the number of patients is 41 in Pune Municipality, 94 newly included villages in the municipality, 29 in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipality, 31 in Pune Rural. So far 8 patients have been found in other districts in the state. Out of the total number of patients found in the state, 52 people are undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit. Along with this, 20 patients are on a ventilator. The health department clarified that 109 patients have been treated and discharged across the state.
