NMMC launches a special vaccination center in Vashi's APMC market

At present, vaccination is underway at 28 places including four municipal hospitals, all 23 civic health centers, jumbo vaccination center at Vashi Sector 5.

The APMC market in Navi Mumbai receives essential commodities not only from the Mumbai metropolitan area but also from the entire state and other states too. As a result, it is a high-risk area for spreading the coronavirus infection. Therefore, from the very beginning, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has been paying special attention to all the five markets in the APMC market -- vegetables, fruits, onion, grain market, spices.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has now started a special vaccination centre at Danabazar in APMC Market. The centre has been operational since Friday, May 7. The civic body is emphasizing on increasing the number of vaccination centres so that more and more citizens can be vaccinated as soon as possible.

The NMMC Commissioner Abhijeet Bangar said that the entire vaccination process has been started to avoid any inconvenience to the citizens. However, it will be reviewed in a video conference meeting of medical officers which takes place every evening.

Considering the severe heat owing to the summer season and the upcoming monsoon season, various issues like setting up of sheds outside the vaccination centres, adequate seating arrangements and fan arrangements are also being reviewed.
