The Russian vaccine for the coronavirus Sputnik V has made a debut in the city and is now reportedly available in Navi Mumbai in order to tackle the second wave of COVID-19.

On Thursday, July 8, Sputnik V was administered to 75 citizens at Terna Specialty Hospital and Research Center in Nerul. The vaccination was started by getting Faina Philip vaccinated, a young woman living in Sanpada, at Terna Specialty Hospital.

Moreover, the Sputnik vaccine needs to be registered on the health bridge. You can also register by calling 9619454545. The vaccination will be conducted at Terna Specialty Hospital and Research Center from 8 am to 8 pm.

Sputnik V has been registered in 67 countries globally with a total population of over 3.5 billion people. The vaccine is based on a proven and well-studied platform of human adenoviral vectors and uses two different vectors for the two shots in a course of vaccination, providing immunity with a longer duration than vaccines using the same delivery mechanism for both shots.

On the other hand, Russia's Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus will soon be available at government-run vaccination centres, chairman of Centre's COVID-19 working group Dr NK Arora had earlier informed.

Sputnik V is currently being administered only in private hospitals but depending upon its supply, a free vaccination programme will soon be offered, the doctor added.
