A day after suspending the vaccination drive in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has partially opened the centres.

The BMC announced that Mumbaikars will get inoculated between 2 pm and 5 pm only at select centres on Friday, July 1.

While Covaxin will be administered to recipients who will arrive for the second dose, Covishield is available only for people above 45 years of age.

Taking it to Twitter, the BMC has put out a list of centres where the vaccination is taking place.

Besides, Suresh Kakani, the additional municipal commissioner, mentioned that the BMC will get around 125,000 vaccine doses of Covishield and 25,000 doses of Covaxin, from which vaccination will be continued in the city.

On July 1, all government and civic body-run vaccination centres were shut due to a shortage of vaccines. However, 32,074 citizens were inoculated in private hospitals on the same day.

The civic body is trying to vaccinate as many people as before the arrival of a possible third wave of coronavirus. Accordingly, BMC has set a target of vaccinating 1 lakh citizens every day.

Meanwhile, on Monday, June 28, a record number of 1,80,821 people took the vaccine in Mumbai. It surpassed the previous single-day high of 1.54 lakh vaccinations that was registered on Saturday, June 26.
