As we enter into the third phase of the lockdown, there seems to be a little respite in the number of cases that are coming from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). On Sunday, there were as many as 25 new positive cases of COVID-19 recorded in Navi Mumbai and with that, the total number of cases in that area alone has crossed the 300-mark.

As per the data available on Sunday, the total tally of cases in Navi Mumbai stood at 314 and six people have lost their lives while fighting from this virus. Forty-eight patients under the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) have recovered.

Out of the 25 new cases that were recorded on Sunday, nine each were reported from Nerul and Vashi, five from Koparkhairane, and one each from Airoli and Turbhe.

One area that has been majorly impacted by the spread of coronavirus in this area is the APMC market. The market had to be closed from time to time to check the spread and also to make sure that people coming in to buy regular groceries are able to follow the social distancing norms to the Tee.

There are almost 29 cases reported this market so far. Five of these cases were fresh cases of coronavirus that were tested on Sunday. Apart from these, there are also eight people who tested positive after coming in contact with the patients from APMC market.

These tests were done for free of costs and the for majority of the people tested were workers from the vegetable and fruit market, traders or other staff from the market.
