Patients from Mumbai, Thane, Bhiwandi and surrounding areas are benefiting from the 'Early Treatment and Rehabilitation Center' started at Nair Hospital to provide treatment under one roof to children with special needs. But now the Nair hospital administration has started efforts to make its benefits available to the patients in the rural areas of the state. The hospital administration is thinking of providing this facility through telemedicine so that the patients in the rural areas can benefit from it.

Children with special needs and their parents have to face many problems in their daily life. To take care of these children and promote their all-round development, Nair Hospital has provided a state-of-the-art facility combining all types of medical disciplines through the 'Early Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre'. Considering the benefits of these centres to the patients, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to start such centres in the eastern and western suburbs. Accordingly, the process of finding a place has also been started. Considering the response of the patients to the 'Early Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre', efforts will be made by Nair Hospital to bring the benefits to the rural patients as well.

Common citizens in rural areas face difficulties in getting health services. So patients with special needs and their parents have to face many problems. Keeping this problem in mind, the founder of Nair Hospital informed that this service is being considered for these patients in rural and remote areas through telemedicine. Said by Sudhir Medhekar.

A large number of patients are coming to the 'initial treatment and rehabilitation centers' from areas like Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Bhiwandi. Patients in rural and remote areas are deprived of treatment. This facility will be started for the treatment of these patients. According to this, patients from rural areas will first have to come to the hospital, register and get checked by doctors. After examination, parents will be trained in physiotherapy, occupational therapy and hearing therapy. After that,  Dr. Sudhir Medhekar said that they will be guided about the treatment through telemedicine while staying at home.
