The third phase of COVID-19 vaccination in India commenced on Monday, March 1, covering people over 60 and above. Even those above the age of 45 years with comorbidities are eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccines.

According to the guidelines by the Central government, vaccination will be done in private hospitals as well as municipal and government hospitals.

In private hospitals, the vials will be charged at INR 250, whereas in the government hospitals it will be free of cost.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has received a list of 53 private hospitals in Mumbai which are implementing the Central Government'sJan Arogya Yojana' and also the Central or State Government Health Insurance Schemes.

However, it has come to light that notable private hospitals in Mumbai have not been featured on the list released by the Centre for phase three vaccination drive. Following this, many have requested the Centre and the Maharashtra government to ensure their participation in the next phase of the coronavirus vaccination drive starting March 1. Meanwhile, it has also been reported that some private hospitals that feature in the list have expressed that they are not ready at the moment.

The Centre has said that only those private hospitals empanelled with it or state government’s insurance schemes can be a part of the vaccination programme. Hence, many well-known private hospitals found their name missing from the list released by the Union health ministry.

  • BKC Jumbo Hospital, Bandra
  • Mulund Jumbo Covid Hospital, Mulund
  • Nesco Jumbo Covid Hospital, Goregaon

Is prior Registration mandatory?

For the third phase of COVID-19 vaccination, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has said that beneficiaries will have to register themselves on its portal Co-WIN. This step is necessary to participate in the inoculation drive.

The Union Health Ministry today clarified that the Co-WIN app available on the Play Store was not meant to register for or book for vaccinations. That can be done only through the portal. The app is meant for use only by the administrators, it said. While from today, March 1 the state has begun walk-in vaccination.

It is possible to register in advance or even at the vaccination centre before vaccination.

Citizens should carefully state their date of birth and other details while registering.

This detail must be in accordance with the details in Aadhar Card, Election Identity Card or PAN Card or prescribed government documents.

What documents are required?

For those who are aged above 45 years and are comorbid, they will have to upload a medical certificate, mentioning their comorbid condition. People who are above the age of 60, need to carry their Aadhaar card or voter ID card or a photo ID card for the vaccination process.
