NMMC to organize COVID-19 vaccination for the disabled on June 17

Even though the special COVID-19 vaccination drive that was supposed to happen on June 10 got cancelled due to the warning of heavy rainfall by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the civic body of Navi Mumbai, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has once again organized the vaccination session for the disabled.

According to sources, the vaccination session for the same will now be held on Thursday, June 17. These special vaccination sessions will be held at Maasaheb Minatai Thackeray Hospital Sector 15 Nerul, Rajmata Jijau Hospital Sector 3 Airoli, and ESIS.

The civic body of Navi Mumbai over the last few weeks, planned special arrangements at vaccination facilities for citizens with disabilities who are above the age of 45 years, whereby the citizens did not have to wait in a queue.

Similar arrangements were being planned to vaccinate disabled citizens above the age of 18 and to ensure a smooth process, NMMC has organized a special vaccination program on Thursday, June 10, 2021. Disabled citizens between the age of 18-44 can visit the following centres from 9 am to 5 pm.

  • Maasaheb Minatai Thackeray Hospital (Sector 15 - Nerul)
  • Rajmata Jijau Hospital (Sector 3 - Airoli)
  • ESIS. Hospital (Sector 5 - Vashi)

Taking inspiration from the same, the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) had also taken a similar decision wherein disabled citizens were vaccinated without a queue. Moreover, an hour was dedicated to administering vaccines for the coronavirus to them at the assigned centres.
