In a recent video that has surfaced on social media, a man can be seen jumping from a window in Sion hospital. This incident took place on May 3, 2020. In the video, we can see a man hurriedly jumping off a window creating panic amongst the people present in the room. According to the officials, he was subsequently brought back by security personnel. Kirit Somaiya from the Bharatiya Janata Party took to Twitter to share the video, criticising the government in power.

Earlier in a shocking development, in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19, BJP MLA Nitesh Rane, on Thursday, May 7, 2020, shared a video in which patients were seen being treated allegedly next to bodies wrapped in black body bags. Rane has claimed the video to be from Sion hospital. However, that is yet to be verified. Taking cognizance of the allegation, Mumbai Mayer Kishori Pednekar informed that the BMC has set up a committee to authenticate if the video is from the hospital mentioned or not. She also added that she also spoke to the dean of the hospital but has not been able to identify the ward. The BMC has further assured that the civic body will issue a report within 24 hours after the investigation.

The extremely graphic visuals in the video that surfaced on social media showcased a crowded ward where patients were lying connected to drip bags while body bags were laid out on adjacent beds as doctors in protective gear were seen going about their duties, attending patients. This shocked the netizens as this seemed like a regular affair to the onlookers. Mumbai which is the worst-hit metropolitan city in the country has reported 11,394 cases of COVID-19 so far. Therefore, a video in times like this has surged panic amongst the Mumbaikars as they continue to look for answers from the administration.
