After Eman Ahmed, the Egyptian woman weighing 500 kg was brought in Mumbai for treatment, a series of patients were seen joining the list of those undergoing the knife for bariatric surgery.

Recently, Zeenath Khan (38) from Ahmedabad, who weighed around 148 kg, reached the Wockhardt hospital, Mumbai. An online campaign was activated to help raise funds for Khan's surgery.

She had to quit her job as a school teacher after she started gaining an abnormal amount of weight, say doctors. Her husband is a tailor and has come along with her to Mumbai for the surgery. Zeenath went under the knife on Wednesday and is expected to lose 70-80 kgs in the coming year, stated Dr Raman Goel, who conducted the surgery.

Zeenath suffers from genetic obesity. Several philanthropic persons came forward to help Zeenath by contributing around Rs 1,000 - Rs 1,500. A sum of Rs 1.5 lakh was collected for her surgery.
