Over 12,000 families were living in houses built in the 1920s. Finally, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis kicked off the bhoomipujan ceremony for the redevelopment of BDD chawls on Saturday. Fadnavis said that “the project is going to be one of the most prestigious and beautiful urban development projects in the country.”


Not only the families residing in chawl will live a better life but all those who are residing in shanties will also have a proper home to live in. Slum dwellers will get the house in Worli informed, Subhash Lakhe, Mumbai Circle Chief Officer.


These shanties are 50-60 years old. The area houses 350 shanties. All those living inside the tin shed shanties will get the house with an area of 269 sq. feet.
