According to the latest reports, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is anticipated to commence work on connecting Dahisar and Bhayandar by means of a 5.6 km long Link Road. On Tuesday, March 1, the civic authority floated bids for the construction of the road whose work is anticipated to commence from October 2022, claim officials. 

Based on accounts, the INR 2,400 crore project hopes to decongest traffic at the Dahisar checkpoint which is considered to be one of the most congested roads during peak hours. In accordance with the plan, the extension will begin from Dahisar west's Linking Road go via the mangroves and salt pan land and lead all the way to Bhayandar. 

It has been reported that the road will be almost 45 meters wide both in the form of a road and an elevated bridge will be built. The said project has been pushed by Mumbai guardian minister Aaditya Thackeray.

Earlier, Thackeray had taken to Twitter saying that he held a detailed review meeting on the ongoing decongestion of Dahisar Toll Naka with the MMRDA, MSRDC, Mumbai Police and the BMC. He added that they are working on expediting the Metro pier construction, at the same time another lane for traffic has been opened up.

Thackeray further elaborated on how apart from the decongestion of Dahisar Toll Naka, the civic body will also build the proposed 6 Km long 45-meter wide road from the existing Dahisar Link Road to Bhayandar to create an alternative route to Mira Bhayandar.

Several reports have quoted additional municipal commissioner, P Velrasu who highlighted that the project's tentative cost is INR 2,400 crore for a 5.4 km length. He added that the tender for construction will be given in June 2022 and work will commence in October 2022. 

Similarly, BMC officials mentioned that they are in the process of attaining permission from authorities to build over the mangroves and salt pan land. For the same, the Maharashtra government's town planning authority had conducted a public hearing.
