According to the latest reports, the Birhanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has proposed to build a bridge between the Juhu Versova Link Road, and Mayor Hall near Barfiwala Flyover to curtail the travel time between the Western Express Highway (WEH) and Versova by 40-45 minutes.

Based on accounts, it will be a 1.6 km long bridge that looks to decongest the Juhu JVPD circle and is anticipated to cost INR 200 crore. Presently, during peak hours, it takes nearly 40 minutes to cover the 1.6 km stretch during traffic congestion at Juhu Circle, claimed narratives.

The Juhu circle connects Juhu, Versova, and parts of Andheri to the Western Express Highway. An official from the bridges department was quoted an account elaborating on how the vicinity is a dense residential area.

The official added that for the locals commuting in the said 1.6 km stretch is considerably arduous during peak hours. The civic authority looks to ease the flow of traffic at the Juhu Circle as well as cut the travel time between the WEH and Versova as well as Juhu.

The official is also of the opinion that this will help decongest the roads for those residing in the vicinity. The civic body anticipates commencing the construction of the bridge after the monsoon this season.

Interestingly, the construction of the Flyover from Juhu - Versova Road up to C.D. Barfiwala Road at JVPD junction, Andheri west in K/West Ward was mentioned in the BMC Budget 2022-23 by the civic chief Iqbal Singh Chahal. Herein a budget outlay of INR 1,576.66 crore was made for the bridges department.
