Bombay High Court (HC) pulled Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) for not producing an affidavit stating that they have been cutting trees with prior permission on Wednesday. They have ordered MMRC to submit an affidavit stating the same by Thursday. The bench added that if MMRC fails to submit an affidavit, the HC will put a stay on tree felling and Metro-3 work.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Preeti Sharma and Reuben Mascarenhas had filed a petition in HC against tree cutting stating that MMRC officials have been cutting trees through illegal means. They pleaded to dissuade MMRC officials to cut down trees as they had no permission.

Last week, during a hearing, HC had ordered MMRC to cut only those trees which had permission along with asking them to submit an affidavit stating that they have been cutting trees with proper permission.
