Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the initiation of the construction of Versova-Bandra Sea Link (VBSL) and the third bridge on Thane creek. CM Fadnavis-led sub-committee on Infrastructure on Wednesday cleared a proposal to build a link between Khopoli and Kusgaon on Mumbai-Pune expressway.

The proposal states that the Bandra-Versova sea link will be three times longer than the existing Bandra-Worli sea link and will be constructed beside Western Expressway.

The proposed bypass for Mumbai-Pune Expressway will reduce the travel time by almost 20-25 minutes. The duration for completing the construction is set to be for three years for the project. The project is expected to start after the monsoon. This will help and reduce the traffic and time on the route.
