Under the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme, CIDCO had announced a scheme of 25,000 homes in the various nodes of Navi Mumbai in 2018. Some of the beneficiaries were given possession of the houses from July 1. However, CIDCO will now provide an opportunity to customers who have been on the waiting list for nearly 7,000 houses which were earlier rejected in the application scrutiny.

According to reports, more than two lakh applications were received for CIDCO’s 15,000 houses. Taking into consideration the significant response received from the consumers, in 2019, CIDCO decided to remove another 9,000 homes. However, 7,000 houses in both the housing projects are lying unsold owing to a variety of reasons. Out of these, 4,466 homes were reserved for police personnel. In spite of these houses being evacuated, the response received from the police personnel wasn’t forthcoming.

In other developments, CIDCO has announced that it will build 89,000 homes in the coming four years. It has thus, decided to sell the remaining 7,000 homes before the new scheme is introduced.

Accordingly, the remaining houses are likely to be vacated soon which will give customers on the waiting list their first chance.
