The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) regulates the redevelopment of slums across the city. Whenever people require any information regarding the schemes by SRA, they have to visit the SRA office. But soon, people will be able to get all the information in their hands as SRA has launched its mobile application, ‘AASRA’. The mobile application was launched by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Now, the slum dwellers can access all the information they need about slum redevelopment schemes at the tip off their hands with the new mobile application,” said SRA Chief Executive Officer Deepak Kapoor.

In order to make Mumbai slum-free and protect the rights of the swamp dwellers, the Slum Rehabilitation Act 1995 was passed and the SRA scheme was brought in action in 1996. According to an estimation, 52 per cent people in Mumbai were slum dwellers in 1996 and the circumstances haven’t changed much after 22 years.

In fact, the roots of corruption have been planted throughout the scheme which has brought the need for transparency throughout. And so, in order to rejuvenate the faith of people in SRA, the institution launched its mobile application. The app is available in Marathi and English and will enable the user to access all the essential information regarding SRA’s schemes.

The application has been functional since September 11 and will be assisting the slum-dwellers. However, if the users have any problem with SRA and want to register a complaint, then they will have to visit the SRA office.
