Work on the Versova - Bandra Sealink work has been commenced, but its considerable work will commence after the monsoon, that is October 1 onwards, an official from the Maharashtra government remarked in a report by the Free Press Journal.

According to the account, the official elaborated on how while the machinery mobilization work on the site has commenced, because they are in May and the previous contractor did not commence work inside the sea, thus, the new contractor will not be permitted to tread into the sea because the monsoon is approaching.

The official added that the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) does not permit work inside the sea during the rainy season considering the risk factor.

Based on the narrative, the machinery mobilization work is underway and the overall progress of the civil work is just at 2.5 per cent. It is anticipated that the work will fasten when the monsoon is over because the bridge passes over the sea.

The new contractor has thus had to wait until the restriction is over. Earlier it was reported that the deadline for the Versova Bandra Sea Link has been extended to December 2026.

Accounts had previously claimed that permission was given to two contractors appointed before to hand over the contract to two other firms.
