In the aftermath of the green bus stop near the Race Course which has garnered traction, reports on Wednesday, April 27 claimed that the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) is looking to add 30 such stops in the arriving three months.

The green bus stop near the Race Course reportedly became so popular that the PMO made inquiries with the BEST about it.

Based on accounts, the 30 additional green stops will include 10 in the Worli area which is the G-South ward, 10 through the Andheri to Goregaon Link Road and 10 in other areas of the suburbs.

The first green bus stop was inaugurated by Mumbai suburban guardian minister, Aaditya Thackeray in his constituency, Worli.

Thackeray took to Twitter to share images of the new bus stop and said, "Revamped bus stop of Famous Studio under our tactical urbanism initiative with a beautiful backdrop of the Mahalaxmi racecourse. You will soon spot these sleek bus stops in another 105 locations in the city & suburban Mumbai."

The newly initiated green bus stop entails a roof garden to cool travellers waiting for the bus, and exercise equipment.

Lauding this initiative, businessman Anand Mahindra remarked, "Finally, Mumbai will get world-class Bus stops to replace the eyesores that have been blots on the landscape. Terrific to also see innovative features like the exercise bar & the ‘cool’ green tops. Bravo @AUThackeray @IqbalSinghChah2."

The minister for environment and tourism then thanked Mahindra for the appreciation. He went on to elaborate on how the purpose is to see that the public transport is comfortable along with offering an enhanced sense of design aesthetic for Mumbai.

Thackeray uttered, " So while we increase our AC electric bus fleet, we are also ensuring our bus stops get better, for all citizens".
