In recent developments, the difficult phase of the work on Metro Project-3 was completed by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) as it gained momentum during the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

Similarly, a difficult phase of Metro 2A (Dahisar East to DN Nagar) line has now been completed as well. The last phase of the work was completed on Saturday, including the erection of iron beams on the railway tracks between Dahisar and Mira Road stations on the Western Railway.

The objective is to make this route operational by May 2021. Metro 2A runs from Dahisar to Mira Road stations on the railway tracks. The construction of the beams, which weighed hundreds of tons, was completed overnight. This work was done from 12.05 am to 3.35 am.

The erection of the beams at Dahisar was expected to take place in November. However, this work was completed two months ahead of schedule. This work has given impetus to the tests to be held in January 2021. This was made possible by the cooperation of Railway and Mumbai Municipal Corporation officials.

Moreover, the construction of other metro lines are being planned in the city at the moment and around seven TBMs have been put to work across other corridors in Mumbai and is expected to be completed in early 2021.
