Mumbai Live Impact- MMRC appoints new tree surgeon

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) has finally recruited a tree surgeon after Mumbai Live published the news of how MMRC had not appointed a tree surgeon. Along with the Bombay High Court, the Supreme Court too has given the nod for hacking down trees for the Metro-3 project. But, a tree surgeon to treat old and damaged trees was to be appointed. While there was news that Simon Liyong of Singapore had been appointed to the post, but members of the Save Tree NGO who wrote a mail to Simon Liyong of Singapore received a reply from the tree expert that he had never been hired, nor had he asked for Rs. 22 lakh as monthly compensation, as was claimed.

After Mumbai Live published the news, the MMRC immediately appointed a tree surgeon who has started his work, mentioned in a circular published by MMRC.

According to the circular, Rick Thomas has been appointed from 1 June as a tree surgeon. Simon Liyong was not appointed as a tree surgeon as he was expensive, says the MMRC. It's over to Thomas now.
