Mumbai's Byculla and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) are two busiest stations on the central line. Commuters usually find some difficulty in those areas, especially in the morning, and their troubles may increase for a month, as the foot-over-bridges outside Byculla and CSMT stations will be under repair.

Officials have stated that the FOB on Byculla station (towards Kalyan) will be closed for a month from February 7 to March 6, 2020. The station will be closed in parts and  will be under repair for the above-mentioned days where respective departments will carry forward the work in two phases.  Platforms 3 and 4 will be closed in the  first phase of the repair and the platforms 1 and 2 will be closed in the second phase due to the repair work on the staircase.

Commuters will have to use the FoB towards the CSMT station side and the work at the station will begin from February 8 and will be held until February 25, 2020. Since the repair work will be performed on the staircase on platforms 6 and 7, therefore, the entrance of platform 1 will be accessible to reach platforms 6 and 7.

Officials are making other plans to repair the old British-era road bridges which are in the dilapidated conditions. The bridge over train tracks were to be demolished (as planned earlier) but officials will now look at transforming them into walkways. Further, new bridges are being planned for vehicles which will be built over them at a later stage.
