Soon, seven hostels will be constructed in Mumbai for working women. These seven hostels will be constructed, one in each of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) ward. A total provision of INR 21 crore has been made for this in the budget of the financial year 2023-24.

A large number of working women live in Mumbai. Women who come to Mumbai from outside Maharashtra and outside India for employment always find it difficult to find a place to stay in Mumbai or rent is unaffordable.  The Development Plan of Mumbai was prepared in 2016. At that time, a decision was taken to set up hostels in Mumbai.

Accordingly, the construction of the first hostel for working women in the hilly areas of Goregaon is underway. This work began in 2019. A proposal of INR 28.41 crore was also approved. A 16-storey building will be constructed with an area of 5,882.68 sq. ft.

On the same lines, seven hostels will be built at seven places in Mumbai. It will be possible for women to work in the same area and live as well.
