On December 16, the lottery for 1,384 Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) houses is all set to be declared. While the applicants have been waiting for the lottery results, here’s some good news that will cheer up the lottery winners. Except for the High Income Group (HIG) flats, all the other lottery winners will receive the flats at a 10 per cent cheaper rate.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai Board MHADA Chairman Madhu Chavan told Mumbai Live that the final decision for the same is yet to be made and the change will be finalised by next week.

The decision came after the consumers from the Economically Weaker Sections and Lower Income Group complained of the high prices by MHADA. Despite setting the prices as per new standards, the flats were expensive due to which the people were upset.

As a result, the housing scheme by MHADA registered a low response rate. During the registration procedure and application-filling process, only 30,200 applications have been accepted after 23 days have passed. Till now, 73,965 people have registered and 71,155 have filled application forms. In the meantime, only there are 12 days remaining for the application approval process.

The Mumbai Chairman himself had stated earlier that the flats this year are a bit expensive and thus, he has been keen on reducing the price of the flats. He had written a letter to MHADA President and MHADA Vice-President asking them to reduce the prices. Therefore, the Chairman will be accordingly calling a meeting for the discussion.
