Central Railway has finished working on Patri Pul which is situated near the Kalyan Railway Station. Work on this bridge was previously delayed and was eventually finished this Sunday with officials assigning an additional block of 1 hour and 15 minutes between 1:30 and 2:45 AM. Authorities are expected to open the bridge for the public in January 2021 with some finishing touches currently left.

“As some girder launching work was incomplete after Sunday's block, an additional night block was given between 1.30 am and 2.45 am and the remaining work was successfully completed,” a spokesperson for Central Railway said.

As per sources cited by mid-day, the girders were misaligned on Sunday which led to workers being recalled to finish the work late in the night. Officials have blamed this on the frequent visits by politicians and ministers to gain some mileage. Some believe that this may have led to multiple delays in the completion of the project.

This is expected to be the state’s biggest road bridge over train tracks with a length of 76.67 metres. However, the bridge has been embroiled in multiple controversies due to the delay in its construction and finishing.

Authorities are now planning to set aside two days for the dismantling and removing the launching nose and rear frame. Subsequently, officials will settle the bridge down on the bearing. This exercise will be conducted for three hours each on November 28 and 29, the officials said.
