With the help of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that his government will develop roads along the Konkan coast. He also said that a special authority would soon be established for the overall development of Konkan.

Shinde made these statements on Tuesday, June 6, after laying foundation stone for Sant Gadgebaba Mandai and shopping centre, dressing rooms at the municipality's gymkhana ground, housing complex for the employees of the municipality's fire protection department and other works.

Konkan is rich in natural resources and its people are known for their hospitality.

"We will strive to realise the tourism potential and develop a prosperous Konkan. We have already started the process of setting up a special development authority for Konkan," Shinde added.

The Chief Minister said that funds will be made available for Marine Environment Project and Multi Specialty Hospital at Sawantwadi.

He also promised to make special efforts for branding and marketing support for local products in Konkan.

The Maharashtra government, which has the most number of infrastructure projects currently underway in various stages of development in the country, will strive for all-round development of Konkan, Shinde said as he dedicated projects worth INR 110 crore to the people.

“Government is striving to create employment opportunities for the youth generation of Maharashtra along with local infrastructure development. We need more entrepreneurs so that there are more employers than job seekers. We are also working for empowerment of women's self-help groups and ensuring accessibility and affordability of health services to the last element,” Shinde exclaimed.

Union MSME Minister Narayan Rane, Rural Development Minister Girish Mahajan, Industries Minister Uday Samant and Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar were present on this occasion.
