Malls reopen in Thane, antigen mandatory for everyone visiting

Earlier in the week, Malls in Thane got a go-ahead to open. The civic administration gave a go-ahead to the malls to open shops and as a result of the same, City Mall, Korum Mall and Viviana Mall got set to welcome their first set of customers. 

However, till now only Vivanta Mall has restarted operations. 

While the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has given a go-ahead to open the malls but it has also announced that it will be conducting antigen tests on all persons, including customers, entering the malls

Sandeep Malvi, TMC deputy commissioner in conversation to Indian Express has told that “Each mall in Thane will be provided antigen testing kits by the TMC and a team will be present to test the customers as well as the staff of the mall".

The report further added that on Wednesday, the first day that the mall opened, 138 tests were done and one person was found positive. Furthermore the civic administration has chalked out plans to conduct these tests in every mall that resumes operations in the state. 

As per the civic administration this step is required to continue to keep the COVID positve numbers in the district in check.
