Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industries (MCHI) Raigad unit has filed a second complaint against CIDCO (City and Industrial Development Corporation) for violating Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) rules and regulations.

MCHI Raigad unit president Atik Khatu informed Mumbai Live that he asked MahaRERA to take action against CIDCO in the same way private builders are prosecuted.

Maharashtra Housing Regulatory Authority (MHADA) and CIDCO fall under MahaRERA and these companies have to register with the latter while selling or buying any land/property. Despite this, CIDCO published an advertisement of the lottery for 14,838 houses without registering with MahaRERA.

Khatu filed a complaint with MahaRERA through Mumbai Grahak Panchayat. No action was taken against CIDCO as the latter immediately registered the advertisement with MahaRERA.

Meanwhile, Khatu alleged that this is not the first time CIDCO has violated norms. Prior to this, CIDCO published an advertisement of selling land at nine places in Kalamboli and Kharghar but didn't register the same.

Khatu said that MahaRERA has been taking action against illegal builders and developers but doesn’t act against government-run institutions.
