The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) issued a notification that motorcycles, scooters, three-wheelers, and tractors are not permitted to use the Mumbai-Delhi expressway. This is a legal formality for the highway authority, and similar notifications have been issued for other expressways.

Officials from the NHAI admit that blocking the entrance of these vehicles has been difficult until there is strict enforcement by local police. The notification was issued because high-speed vehicles could pose a risk to slow-moving vehicles, making it necessary to prohibit motorcycles, scooters, three-wheelers, and tractors.

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is expected to provide significant benefits to drivers who use it. The highway will reduce travel time from Delhi to Jaipur from 5 to 3.5 hours, making the trip much faster and more efficient. The distance between Delhi and Mumbai is expected to be halved from about 24 hours to 12 hours, shortening it by 130 km.

The section was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is now open to the public. The first toll plaza is located near Nuh, and car FASTag will be scanned. Basic facilities will be made available soon, according to Mudit Garg, Project Director of NHAI. Drivers have two alternate routes to choose from, and they can use the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to travel from Alipur in Sohna to Dausa in Rajasthan through Rajeev Chowk.

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway was constructed as a high-speed route with a 120 km/h to 80 km/h top speed limit. The expressway was designed to make travel between Delhi and Mumbai faster and more efficient, and it is expected to have a significant impact on travel times in the area.

The Expressway will also connect to 93 PM Gati Shakti Economic Nodes, 13 ports, 8 major airports, and 8 multi-modal logistics parks (MMLPs), as well as spurs to new upcoming greenfield airports like Jewar Airport, Navi Mumbai Airport, and JNPT port.
