According to reports, the Mumbai Police have restricted the entry of heavy vehicles on the newly opened Kalanagar Flyover that connects Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) to the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).

According to a notification issued by the Mumbai Traffic Police, the decision to restrict the entry of heavy vehicles on the Kalanagar Flyover was taken to streamline the traffic on both bounds.

The restrictions on heavy vehicles were put into effect from July 23 and will be in force permanently. Before the flyover was opened for the public, the traffic from the Western Express Highway, BWSL-S V Road, Sion-Dharavi Road, Bandra-Kurla Complex Road and two others intersected at Kalanagar which lead to heavy traffic snarls at the junction.

The second arm of the flyover was constructed to resolve the deadlocked traffic on Kalanagar Junction and MMRDA junction. It was opened for commuters in June.

As per the report, the second arm of the Kalanagar flyover stretch is 804-metre long and 7.5-metre wide. The MMRDA team completed the work in a record four-month time.

The second arm of the Kalanagar flyover is the longest of the three-direction flyover. While the third arm between the Sion-Dharavi junction to Bandra-Worli Sealink has two lanes. It is 340-metre long.

Meanwhile, the first arm of the Kalanagar flyover was opened in February, reports suggest. The 653-metre long BKC to Bandra-Worli Sea link stretch had already eased traffic for motorists.
