Maharashtra has been allocated target length of 6550 km under PMGSY-III, out of which, 5478 km length has already been sanctioned to the State. Road length of 180.13 km and 104.12 km have been sanctioned in Amravati and Wardha districts of Maharashtra, respectively, under PMGSY-III.

As per Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) guidelines, Indian Road Congress (IRC) specifications and provisions in Rural Road Manual, carriageway width of PMGSY roads is decided based on the projected traffic in terms of Passenger Car Unit (PCU) per day plying on the roads, existing carriageway width, land availability etc. The carriageway may be widened to 3.75 m or 5.5 m depending upon the traffic (PCU/ day) plying on the roads and other site specific factors.

This has been stated by MoS Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti in Lok Sabha today, December 6, in reply to an unstarred question by Ramdas Tadas.

Moreover, the Nanded district of Maharashtra has been sanctioned 163 roads of 959 km road length and 25 bridges under various verticals of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), out of which 135 roads of 780 km road length and 25 bridges have already been completed. The projects sanctioned under PMGSY-I & II have been completed and the timeline for completion of projects sanctioned under PMGSY-III is March 2025. A total amount of INR 7,568.63 Cr has been released and an amount of INR 12,672.51 Cr (which includes State share has been utilised during the period of last 5 years i.e. Financial Years 2018-19 to 2022-23) in the State of Maharashtra.

This has been stated by MoS Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan jyoti in Lok Sabha, in reply to an unstarred question by Prataprao Patil Chikhalikar.

‘Rural road’ is a state subject. As per the programme guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), maintenance of roads constructed under the programme is the responsibility of the State Governments. As PMGSY is a one-time assistance programme for construction of rural roads, there is no provision under it for repair of roads. Central funds are released to the State Government only (not to the districts) for construction and upgradation of roads which are sanctioned under various interventions of PMGSY. The details of amount released & expenditure incurred for construction/upgradation of the roads during last three years are as under :-
