This year, 1.97 lakh people have filled up the applications, and 1.64 lakh people have deposited the required amount for Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority's (MHADA) housing lottery

Registration for 1,384 Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority (MHADA) houses that began on November 5, came to an end on December 10, 2018. This year, 1.5 lakh applicants have registered for MHADA's housing lottery, 1.97 lakh people have filled up the applications, and 1.64 lakh people have deposited the required amount. Name of the Lottery winners will be announced on December 16, 2018.

Meanwhile, despite a good response from people, the officials have stated that the response from people this year has significantly decreased in comparison to the previous years’ response. Every year, per one house, almost 200-300 applicants express interest  but this year, only 118 applicants expressed interest for the same.

The MHADA's Mumbai housing board will scrutinise the applications accordingly and will release the list of eligible applicants who have won the lottery on December 13. According to MHADA officials, if any applicants wish to make changes in their application, they will have to contact MHADA's Mumbai Board office.

The Mumbai Board authorities stated that the response for the MHADA flats this year has been really low due to non-availability of flats for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
