The longest sea bridge, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also known as Atal Setu, has been making waves since its inauguration, January 12.

As per data revealed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), it has recorded nearly 30,000 vehicles daily for the first 10 days after its inauguration on January 12. With this, it generated an average revenue of INR 61.50 lakh per day through toll charges.

A total of 3.09 lakh vehicles used the sea bridge generating a revenue INR 6.15 crore through toll in the first 10 days till January 23.

On the very first day, an impressive 28,176 vehicles used the bridge, bringing in INR 54.77 lakh in tolls. The next day saw an even bigger surge, with 54,977 vehicles crossing over and contributing INR 1.06 crore to the coffers.

Many of the commuters were there to enjoy the scenic view of the city’s newest bridge. This was also attributed to the weekend ahead. It also grabbed the headlines with many motorists creating havoc by stopping their vehicles on the bridge, which is prohibited, and also throwing garbage.

The bridge, which connects Sewri in Mumbai to Chirle in Navi Mumbai, is not just a marvel of engineering but also a crucial link in the city’s transportation network.

The toll charges as follows:

Sewri to Chirle: INR 250 (one way), INR 300 (return), INR 500 (daily pass), INR 10,000 (monthly pass)

Sewri to Shivaji Nagar (Ulwe): INR 200 (one way), INR 250 (return)

Shivaji Nagar-Gavhan: INR 50 (one way), INR 75 (return)
