Parking issue in BKC becomes grim

Parking issue in BKC becomes grim
SHARES

Mumbai - The MMRDA has shut down its three parking facilities in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) on Thursday. A force of security guards did not allow a single two-wheeler to enter its parking space in the BKC since Thursday morning. This created a chaotic situation among visitors who had no other way than to park their vehicles on the road just outside the parking station.

The parking has been closed as the contract has ended. The MMRDA is finding it difficult to get a contractor for parking space in the BKC. Lakhs of people visit this business district in the city where many offices and establishments of international and national importance are located. It is the responsibility of the MMRDA to provide parking space in the BKC. BKC Parking Issue Group has condemned the MMRDA move to shut down the parking spaces here and alleged that it wants to hand these spaces to the Reliance Jio. The members of this group met MMRDA officials on Thursday to convey their grievances but in vain.
