BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta declared that property tax will be levied on slums in next financial year. And so, the commissioner did not increase any taxes or introduced taxes and believes that Rs. 250 crores will be earned through property tax.

Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar had asked BMC commissioner not to levy water and sewerage tax. BMC commissioner announced that no tax rates will be increased at the end of the budget speech.

However, former BMC commissioner Subodh Kumar had permission to increase 8% every year in water tax and other taxes. And so every year, from the month of April, 10% tax and in June, 8% is increased in water tax.
