RTI activist Anil Galgali exposed an illegal building scam in Kalina. Shirke Company constructed an illegal building Maitri in Kalina, Santacruz. Despite the structure being an illegal one, Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has paid 94% of the cost to Shirke.
29 illegal floors have been added to construct a 12-floor high building in Kalina. The building is named as Maitri, which signifies the close bonding between the civic officers and the construction company.
The regional auditor of Mhada while stating the fact to Anil Galgali informed that total expenditure of 72 houses up to 31 March 2017 has been Rs 20,14,78,000 crore out of which Shirke company has been paid Rs 18,83,80,000 crore.
Galgali has appealed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take strict action against the lawbreakers.
