The northbound extension of the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) flyover in Mumbai is almost ready to open. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has finished all major construction work on the project.

The project cost is estimated at INR 650 crore. Civil works, including street lighting, road resurfacing, and load testing, have been completed. According to sources, painting, removal of temporary staging, and final detailing are currently ongoing.

The landing ramp, complete with safety walls, is now finished. Streetlamp installation is in progress. Furthermore, sources also suggest that the extension might open possibly even by Independence Day if rainfall stays scattered.

The flyover spans the Western Express Highway (WEH) and the Kalina-Vakola flyover. Currently, traffic near the WEH-Vakola junction faces heavy congestion. Vehicles travelling from SCLR to Vakola are delayed due to signal timings and ongoing work.

Once open, the bridge will improve road access near Vakola Nullah on the Western Express Highway. It will also provide faster routes to the airport for thousands of daily commuters.

The orthotropic steel deck (OSD) used in the project is 215 meters long and 17.5 meters wide. It weighs 1780 tonnes. The cable-stayed section of the bridge stands nine meters above the Vakola flyover and 22 meters above the ground.
