Several roads in South Bombay shut due to Mumbai Coastal Project work at Marine Drive

In a welcoming news, the ongoing works of Mumbai coastal road has reached its last phase of completion on Marine Drive.

At present, the work is in progress at N S Road at Marine Drive. It has been planned by the Coastal Road Construction agency that they need to carry out SWD drainage outfall work on the south bound carriageway of NS road between Taraporewala aquarium up to Islam Gymkhana. The duration for the completion of the work will be approximately five months.

In order to carry out this construction activity, the existing South bound traffic on N.S road will be routed through the service road running parallel along the gymkhanas. Slow movement of vehicular traffic cannot be ruled out with traffic congestion at certain points.

All vehicle users are, therefore, advised to avoid bring their vehicles on N.S. road (Marine Drive) South bound only if required or in an urgency to avoid themselves from traffic congestion. Motorists are suggested to take alternate routes to avoid congested roads and slow movement.

Due to coastal road construction, SWD Drainage outfall work will be carried out on Southbound carriageway of Marine Drive (btwn Taraporewala Aquarium & Islam Gymkhana) for the next 5 months.

Here are alternate routes:

Motorists intending to travel to South Mumbai (Colaba, Cuffe parade, Churchgate, Nariman Point) are advised to use MaharashiKarve road for their travel. The route shall be:

1) Kemps Corner, Nana Chowk, Opera House, Saifee Hospital, Godha Gadi Junction, Marine Lines Station, Income Tax Office, Churchgate Junction, Godrej Junction and further move ahead to their desired destination.

2) Peddar Road, RTI Junction, Cecil Junction, Sukh Sagar Junction, [left turn] Opera House, Saifee Hospital, Godha Gadi Junction, Marine Lines Station, Income Tax Office, Churchgate Junction and further move ahead to their desired destination.

3) Walkeshwar, Bandstand, Wilson College, Vinoli Chowpatty, [left turn], Opera House, Saifee Hospital, Godha Gadi Junction, Marine Lines Station, Income Tax Office, Churchgate Junction and further move ahead to their desired destination.
