It is difficult for a eunuch to make a living in this country but to add to the taboo if one is HIV positive, it becomes even more intense. On the occasion of World Aids Day, let's meet Dolly Nazim Khan, a eunuch who contracted HIV infection back in 1993.

When she was diagnosed with HIV, she shared the news with her family members but to her dismay, they disowned her and asked her to leave the house.

After leaving her family house, Dolly moved from Uttar Pradesh to Mumbai but had no fallback option and was looking to revamp her life. She took shelter at a hospital and started rebuilding her life by taking up odd jobs.

She currently works at Vikhroli’s Godrej Hospital in the ART Centre.

Dolly believes that HIV has played the role of a "hero" in her life. Because of the disease, she believes that the society accepted her even though she’s a eunuch and she takes the disease in a positive stride and continues living her life on her own terms.
