Mumbai- Dhanteras falls in the lunar month of Kartik (Oct-Nov), on the thirteenth day of the dark fortnight. This auspicious day is celebrated two days before the festival of lights, Diwali. Businessmen perform pooja of their financial books on Dhanteras. On this day, people offer prayers to the Goddess Laxmi by placing gold ornaments in front of the deity. Prayers are also offered to other Gods on this day - Lord Vishnu, Kuber, Yogini, Ganesh, Naag and Dravyavidhi.
