The 14th edition of the renowned Blenders Pride Fashion Tour was recently celebrated in the city, with an aim to see the self and the individual through its extraordinary new concept-‘Pride’. Far removed from the traditional confines of mere success, the tour defines ‘Pride’ as an inner sense of achievement, of uniqueness and of individuality, all the things that are, in fact, meaningful for this generation. While their distinct choices define their individuality, the taste of pride which comes from this self-earned success is one for these individuals.
As the theme for 2019, the attempt at Blenders Pride Fashion Tour was to delve into the idea of ‘Pride’ through one’s choices, style, and legacy, decoding this journey through the vision of some of India’s most blazingly talented, world-famous fashion designers.
As a part of the Mumbai city edition this year, renowned designer Rohit Bal showcased his collection ‘Gul-Dastah’ curating his breathtaking designs. Ace actors Sidharth Malhotra and Diana Penty added the grandeur of the evening as showstoppers in Rohit’s masterpiece. With his collection at Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2019, Rohit's collection depicted a true meaning of celebrating ‘Pride’ as a hallmark of today’s generation - a meaningful expression of success.
Talking about his curation ‘My Heritage, My Pride’, designer Rohit Bal said, “I am a traditionalist and that too, a pure, classic, undiluted traditionalist. I am deeply rooted in my culture, my origins and the incredible heritage of India. From the Lotus to the Peacock, I think tradition and I live my heritage. There is mystery, mysticism and sheer magnificence in our Heritage and it has become an essential part of my soul. I take immense pleasure in my association with Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2018-19, as it lets me celebrate this Heritage, with Pride.”
Weaving a seamless story around ‘My Heritage, My Pride’, Rohit Bal showcased a spectacular experience which was an ode to the magnificent beauty of flowers, dedicated entirely to the greatest treasures of the natural world, and inspired by botanical paintings and works by some of the great Masters of the Renaissance period. The collection renders a vintage feel and has been done on both traditional and contemporary silhouettes on organic fabrics using thread embroidery to gold wire and zardozi. Both sensitive and ornate with an underlying sense of luxury interwoven in its many layers, the collection is an absolute beauty in its purest form.

Moving ahead from Mumbai, Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2018-19 will conclude in Kolkata in January 2019.
