Jogeshwari- Buffalo’s milk is considered rich in nutrients. And this is mainly found in tabelas, which are a past now in Mumbai city. However, there is one such tabela which is still very much alive at Jogeshwari. This ‘tabela’ has 1000 buffaloes and 20-25 workers who milk the buffaloes. This starts around 4 am and they milks the buffaloes twice a day, once in the morning and in the evening. This milk is then sent to various parts of western suburbs. One buffalo gives 6 litres of milk for a day and every buffalo are tagged with a number and so that the workers get to count the buffaloes. These buffaloes are then washed twice in summer and once in winter season.
