Mumbai - This year, Lala Lajpat Rai college celebrated its annual ‘Sankalp festival’ by honouring women and talking about gender equality. NSS students, who organised the event, had hand-painted T-shirts that spoke about gender inequality, women's empowerment and other issues related to women.

The two-day long festival received a good response from the students who not only hand painted the T-shirts but also crafted useful artefacts from waste.

Kranti Uke, who heads the NSS unit in the college, said that this year, the festival raised issues including gender discrimination, property rights, selective abortion, sexual harassment and child marriage. "We have organised various events such as poster making, tattoo making, T-shirt painting, and other fine arts," she said.

The NSS students also put up posters of women achievers in the college.
