Royal Opera House Mumbai opened its doors to ‘The Quarter’ last year and after a few months in the city, the four-in-one outlet which comprises of a music club; a café, a cocktail & mozzarella bar; and an al fresco restaurant has made a solid mark.

We were at Live At The Quarter for a sensational event over the weekend and right from the venue to the artistes, the experience was a 10/10 ! Located in the premises of Royal Opera House, Live At The Quarter has become a second home to independent artistes. Although the place has limited seating, you can book your seat for a musical ride as they host a number of gigs through the week/weekend.

They have a wide range of wine and liquor options with food being mostly Italian and a bit of continental. So while you let the music take you to a different trance, you have a number of options to binge on.

The Kush Upadhyay Trio feat. Gino Banks and Sheldon D’Silva were performing a mix of originals and covers live at the Quarter and the musical extravaganza left me mesmerised.

Kush on the guitar, Gino Banks on the drums and Sheldon on bass were in perfect harmony creating sensational music. Live At The Quarter is an ideal venue to enjoy a music gig with a touch of finesse and sway away into the jazz! With the jazz/blues scene in the city fading over the years, and with Blue Frog shutting down a few years ago, the city probably needed this influx of rich, soothing, pure music-specific venue.

A mix of jazz, blues, and rock, the gig was well balanced with slow tempo rhythm and something that would make you rapidly tap your feet. The ambience of the venue is well on point with a dim, low light setting for a calm, serene vibe with nothing between you and the music.

I would most definitely recommend music lovers in the city to catch one of their gigs and this place will surely leave you content.
